MTG-OS by Falinkaz Studios

Effective Date: June 3, 2026

Last Updated: June 3, 2026

Welcome to MTG-OS! Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. Please read this privacy policy carefully.

In short: we use anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. We show ads via Google AdMob. Your game data and any text you enter (player names, etc.) stays on your device. We don't collect your name, email, or precise location.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Automatically Collected Information

When you use MTG-OS, we and our third-party service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and usage:

Data Type Purpose Third Party
Device Identifiers
(IDFA / Advertising ID)
Personalized advertising (only if you authorize via ATT) Google AdMob
Anonymous Install ID
(random UUID per install; regenerated if you reinstall)
Connecting events from the same install to support retention analysis without identifying you Firebase Analytics, Sentry
Game Activity Events
(game starts and completions with player count, mode, win condition, duration in seconds)
Understanding retention, win-condition distribution, and game length to improve features Firebase Analytics
Aggregated Lifetime Counter
(bucketed: "0", "1", "2-4", "5-9", "10+" games completed)
Retention cohort splits without exposing exact play counts Firebase Analytics
Session Replay
(sampled visual recording of your interactions, with all text content masked)
Diagnosing UX issues we can't reproduce from logs alone. We record interaction patterns (taps, scrolls, navigation timing) but cannot read text you type or names displayed in the app. Sentry
Crash & Error Logs
(stack traces, error messages)
Bug fixing, stability improvements Sentry
Device Information
(OS version, model, language, country derived from IP — IP itself is discarded after country lookup)
Compatibility, performance optimization AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Sentry
Performance Metrics
(load times, frame rates, network timings)
Performance monitoring Sentry

1.2 Information Stored Locally

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

  • Player names you create in the app
  • Game history and win/loss records
  • Life totals and game state
  • App preferences and settings
Important: The data we send to third parties is deliberately minimal and anonymous. We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location beyond country level, browsing history, or any text you enter into the app (player names, edits, etc.). Your individual game state (life totals, who won which match) stays on your device. We DO collect anonymous aggregate counts of games started and completed to understand how the app is used; these events are not tied to any personal identifier.

1.3 No New Permissions Required

MTG-OS does NOT request any new device permissions for analytics or replay. The only system dialogs you may see are the pre-existing ones:

  • The Google UMP consent form, shown only to users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom on first launch
  • The iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, shown only on iOS before the first ad is displayed

Neither dialog grants access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, precise location, calendar, or any other device subsystem.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the automatically collected information for the following purposes:

  • Advertising: Display personalized ads through Google AdMob to support the free app
  • Error Tracking: Identify and fix crashes and bugs to improve app stability
  • Performance Monitoring: Optimize app performance and user experience
  • Analytics: Understand how users interact with the app to guide improvements
  • Compliance: Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect information about you:

3.1 Google AdMob (Advertising)

Provider: Google LLC

Purpose: Display ads and measure ad performance

Data Collected: Device identifiers (IDFA), IP address, device information, ad interaction data

Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Opt-Out: You can limit ad tracking in your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"

3.2 Sentry (Error & Performance Monitoring, Session Replay)

Provider: Functional Software, Inc.

Purpose: Crash reporting, error tracking, performance monitoring, and sampled session replay for diagnosing UX issues.

Data Collected: Error logs, device information, app version, performance metrics, an anonymous per-install identifier, and (when your session is sampled) a visual recording of your app interactions with all text content masked.

Important — session replay masking: Sentry replay records the visual structure of the app and the position of your taps and scrolls. We configure it to MASK ALL TEXT — so any names you enter, including player names, appear as ******** in the recording. We can see that you tapped a name field and typed N characters, but we cannot see what those characters were.

What we explicitly DO NOT collect: Your IP address and User-Agent are excluded (the sendDefaultPii setting is disabled).

Privacy Policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/

Data Retention: Error events are retained for 90 days by default; session replays are retained for approximately 30 days, depending on our Sentry plan.

3.3 Firebase Analytics (Google) — Usage Analytics

Provider: Google LLC

Purpose: Anonymous, aggregated analytics to measure feature usage and retention. We use this to answer questions like "what percentage of users who start a game finish it?" — not to identify individual users.

Data Collected: Game start and completion events with player count, game mode, win condition, and duration; a bucketed lifetime games-completed counter; standard device + locale info; an anonymous per-install identifier.

What we explicitly DO NOT enable: The Firebase Analytics SDK is configured WITHOUT IDFA collection (the AnalyticsWithoutAdIdSupport variant), so Firebase Analytics never accesses your advertising identifier. We also disable Google Signals (cross-device tracking via your Google account) and ad personalization signals.

Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Data Retention: Event-level data is retained for 2 months; user-level data (the bucketed lifetime counter associated with your anonymous install ID) is retained for up to 14 months after your last interaction.

3.4 Firebase Remote Config (Google) — Configuration

Provider: Google LLC

Purpose: Fetches a single numerical configuration value from our servers (the rate at which session replays are recorded). This is one-way: we send NO data about you. The plugin only downloads a value.

Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy

3.5 Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — Consent Management

Provider: Google LLC

Purpose: Presents the consent form required in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, and records your choice. The form covers consent for ads AND analytics — granting consent here applies to all analytics, declining stops all data collection beyond what is strictly necessary.

Data Collected: Your consent choice, your approximate region (EEA / non-EEA), no other personal data.

Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

How to revisit: EEA / UK users can re-open the consent form at any time from inside the app via Game Options → Privacy options.

4. App Tracking Transparency (iOS 14.5+)

When you first launch MTG-OS, you will be asked whether you want to allow the app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. This is required by Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.

Your Choice:
  • Allow Tracking: You'll receive personalized ads based on your interests
  • Ask App Not to Track: You'll still see ads, but they won't be personalized. Your IDFA will not be shared for cross-app tracking.

You can change your tracking preference at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iOS device.

Note on what ATT controls: The App Tracking Transparency prompt covers ad personalization only. Our analytics and crash reporting do NOT use IDFA and therefore do NOT depend on your ATT choice — they run on an anonymous per-install identifier regardless of what you select. Declining ATT only affects whether the ads you see are personalized.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • With Third-Party Service Providers: Google AdMob and Sentry (as described above) to provide their services
  • For Legal Compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or government request
  • To Protect Rights: To enforce our policies, protect our legal rights, or ensure user safety

6. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Security measures include:

  • HTTPS encryption for all network communications
  • Secure third-party service providers (Google, Sentry) with industry-standard security practices
  • Local data storage on your device (not transmitted to our servers)

7. Children's Privacy

MTG-OS is intended for users aged 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to delete such information.

This app complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

8.1 General Rights

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we have collected about you
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data (note: most data is stored locally on your device)
  • Opt-Out of Tracking: Disable ad tracking through iOS settings
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
  • Revisit Consent (EEA / UK): Re-open the consent form at any time from Game Options → Privacy options inside the app, to change or withdraw your previously-recorded consent

8.2 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to delete personal information
  • Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

8.3 European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR):

  • Consent: Advertising and tracking (via ATT prompt)
  • Legitimate Interest: Error tracking and performance monitoring to improve the app

9. Data Retention

We retain data for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Local Game Data (on your device): Stored indefinitely until you delete the app or clear app data
  • Firebase Analytics event-level data (game starts, game completions): 2 months from the date of collection
  • Firebase Analytics user-level data (the bucketed lifetime counter associated with your anonymous install ID): up to 14 months after your last interaction with the app
  • Sentry session replays: approximately 30 days
  • Sentry error logs: 90 days
  • AdMob Data: Managed by Google according to their retention policies (typically 12-18 months)

Your anonymous install identifier regenerates if you reinstall the app, so uninstalling and reinstalling effectively starts a fresh analytics profile.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our third-party service providers (Google, Sentry) operate. These countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
  • Privacy Shield frameworks (where applicable)
  • Service providers with robust data protection practices

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Notify you through the app or via other reasonable means if the changes are material
  • Post the updated policy at the same URL

Your continued use of MTG-OS after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

12. Third-Party Links

MTG-OS may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., within ads). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any information.
